What We Do

Division and loneliness aren't solved by debate — they're solved by encounter. When art disarms us, a meal slows us down, and a skilled facilitator holds the space, something different becomes possible: people from different backgrounds actually seeing each other.
Kinship Plot commissions local artists to create original work around a shared theme, then gathers the community to experience it together — with food, conversation, and enough intentionality to make it count.
OUR MISSION
We believe kinship is possible across any difference. This is how we practice that belief.
OUR FLAGSHIP PROGRAM
Oddkin Unite
Oddkin Unite is a curated series of art-and-dinner gatherings for people who might not otherwise share space or conversation. "Oddkin" — people bound not by blood or background, but by a willingness to show up and be changed by the encounter. Each gather features:
Commissioned Art
Each gathering is anchored by original work from a local artist — a poem, a photograph, a piece of music, a dance. Something made specifically for this moment and this community.
A Shared Meal
Food prepared by local chefs creates the conditions for belonging before a single word of conversation is spoken.
Facilitated Dialogue
Skilled facilitators guide participants into honest, humanizing conversation — not debate, but genuine exchange across difference.
Intentional Gatherings
Our gatherings are thoughtfully shaped to welcome people across age, race, faith, background, and perspective. We keep them small—usually 40–50 people—to make space for real connection.
For Chefs
Kinship Plot believes that investing in chefs is key to nourishing a community. We collaborate with chefs to prepare the locally sourced meals for our gatherings, integrating their culinary artistry into an experience that fosters community connection and dialogue.
